The International Welding Institute (Canada and Ukraine) has been conducting research on this new technology since 1974. At present, it has been applied to the bridge of railway, expressway, etc., and the ultrasonic shock treatment of the welding area of shipbuilding, mine, automation and aerospace equipment to improve its fatigue life.
Its working principle is to shock the specially designed hammer through the end face vibration of the transducer system, and then deal with the surface by the hammer head. The working frequency is between 20~30KHz, and the end face amplitude of the transducer system is about 20~40 micron. This kind of ultrasonic shock can eliminate the residual stress in the welding line area, eliminate the distortion produced in the welding area, reduce the stress concentration in the welding area, improve the mechanical properties and prolong the fatigue life. The power required for the equipment is only 300~400 watts.
